Lompoc Flower Festival & Parade

In the early 1950's, most California cities were focused on ranch and rodeo celebrations. George Miller, one of Lompoc's leading citizens began championing for something new - the Lompoc Valley Flower Festival. His reasoning was simple - Lompoc had its world famous flower fields, an asset that was unique and the perfect basis for the community event. The Alpha Clubs flower Show (started in 1922) was the key event on which the Festival was developed. The Festival Association holds two events each year, the Spring Arts Festival in April and the Flower Festival in June. The Lompoc Flower Festival and Parade has grown to include music and entertainment, arts and crafts, carnival rides and more. The Flower Festival is a five day summer event and offers something for everybody. Viewers of this video might also enjoy the Santa Maria Strawberry Festival.
